SBWR is an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff. All of our volunteers are important to the successful workings of our organization, whether they give us many hours a day or one hour every few months. This photo shows a small part of our group, with information about these members given below. Also listed is information about some of our other hard-working volunteers, who were not available for a photo that day. To read more about education birds click HERE. In the back row, left to right: Jason Enoch helps to feed at the ranch where our larger enclosures are, and helps with anything else needed! He is a Verizon installer. Bob Shanman is the owner of our local Wild Birds Unlimited and an ardent supporter. His cardboard recycling, bird-feeder washings and pleas for donations in our donation box raise over $2,000 each year. Diane Reyes helps to raise orphaned raccoons. Diane is a medical transcriber. Stacey Patterson, our resident falconer, helps with birds of prey in our education efforts. Stacey runs a mammography center. Front row: Kyle Hawk, our flight manager, keeps track of all of the rehabilitated birds of prey as they go through their final flight time with us at the ranch, and into release. Kyle maintains various clients gardens and works at a coffee house. Jen Feyder specializes in orphaned birds, especially doves and pigeons, and helps with wildlife education. She also helps to feed at the ranch and with releases. Christina Jones is SBWRs assistant director, sharing in intakes, calls and primary care. Christina owns an indoor plant and outdoor colorscape business. Ann Lynch, SBWRs founder and director, also shares intakes, answers calls and is a primary care-giver. She coordinates all wildlife education and events. Ann is a middle-school science teacher, who also teaches ceramics in the summer. Lynn Petak, our mammal specialist, coordinates the rearing of orphaned raccoons and squirrels. Lynn is the mother of Ella, born in 2002! Sandy Ricker is one of our drivers when a critter needs a ride. She is pictured here with a friend. Missing from the picture but none the less important within SBWR are: Steve and Cathi Shultz are owners of the ranch. Steve is the designer and builder of all of our large enclosures and our in-progress center. Jean Roper is our hummingbird specialist who intakes hundreds of hummers yearly. Anne Short is our swallows and swifts expert. She has also raised many owls and trained some of our education birds. She is our release manager, directing locations and helping with releases. Anne recently completed her BS in Biology and is continuing her education while teaching at the college level. Elizabeth Salinas, a raccoon mommy, also helps with education. Elizabeth works at a local high school in security. Mary Jane Sesto, our wonderful photographer, donates some of her outstanding wildlife photos, both for framing and in the form of note paper and bookmarks, for sale at events. She is also a Verizon installer and a photographer of Portraits of Africa. Shari Saqui, another raccoon mommy, also helps with wildlife education. Bob Chambers is another reliable driver and a pigeon helper. Heather Kinzy helps with orphans, driving, and releases. She raises parrots. And MANY MORE! |
